Every year thousands of homeless pets are abused, neglected, not wanted, lost, and forgotten. These pets have no voice of their own, but Holman Infiniti of Maple Shade, NJ helped that voice to be heard. Loud and clear. On September 25, the Camden County Animal Shelter sponsored an event at Skeeters Pub located in Blackwood, NJ to raise money for their non-profit organization and Holman Infiniti employees of Maple Shade NJ joined the cause.

Jennifer Fishwick of Holman Infiniti received an email about this event and wanted to share it with her coworkers. The Shelter has always been close to her heart and she has helped in the past with fostering animals, adoptions, and events. We asked Jennifer to say a few words about the fundraiser and the Camden County Animal Shelter.

“The response touched my heart in a way that few things can, and I am forever grateful for their generosity. Tickets were $25.00 a piece. I was able to sell 24 before the event, and one of our office workers Claudine Mufalli brought 9 people with her! The Camden County Animal Shelter also had a Chinese auction set up which helped raise additional money. That special evening, Holman Infiniti helped to raise over $2500.00 for the homeless pets at Camden County Animal Shelter!! A good time was had by all and a simple thank you would never be enough to express the gratitude and profound pride I have for working with such wonderful, caring people.”

Hugs for Haiti

Sal DeRose, Sales Consultant, for Holman Infiniti Dealer Maple shade, New Jersey recently volunteered to help a cause, "Hugs for Haiti". It was supported by his church to help bring a smile to the boys and girls who lost so much from the January earthquake in Haiti. Read Sal’s story.

When the earthquake hit Haiti in January, a little girl in my church named Courtney decided to try and collect some stuffed animals for the children living in the tent cities. When it was all said and done, with help from the Community and the Ty Beanie Baby Company, Courtney collected around 5,000 bears.

Now the task was getting the bears to Haiti and distributed to the children. When the church asked for volunteers to go to Haiti, I immediately raised my hand and along with Courtney’s dad, Mike, we planned our trip. We planned on staying in the tent village which was sponsored by Grace International. Grace Village is a tent village with about 25,000 homeless people. Among them was also a Boys and Girls home with about 125 orphans.

We tried to get as much information via the internet to prepare us for the trip, but nothing could have prepared us for what we encountered. When we landed in Port Au Prince Haiti you could see the sheer devastation that the earthquake left in its path. Even seven months later, the rubble still piled in the streets, the make shift homes made out of tents or any other materials that they can get their hands on, and the unforgettable smell coming from all the debris and trash strewn as far as you could see.

After a few days of going back and forth with the officials in Customs, we were able to get the stuffed animals out. We scheduled a day to distribute them in the tent city to the boys and girls. When we pulled the truck into Grace Village there were already about 3,000 children lining up to get the only toy that they might have ever had their entire lives. We spent the next three hours passing out the bears and other stuffed animals to the smiling children and their parents in the 105 degree temperature. The look on their faces and the sheer joy they showed let us know that everything we went through to get to that moment was well worth it.

Jean Holman will be missed by all at Holman Infiniti of Maple Shade

We, at Holman Infiniti of Maple Shade, will miss Jean Holman of Moorestown, the guiding light behind the Holman business for more than half a century. Jean Holman passed away on January 20, 2010.

Born in Philadelphia in 1926 as Jesse Jeanne Polk, Jean grew up in Merchantville and graduated in 1944 from Merchantville High School, where she was voted "Class Leader." She attended New Jersey College for Women, and after graduating with a degree in psychology spent two years working for the Campbell Soup Company. In 1950, she married Merchantville classmate Joe Holman. In 1952, the couple moved to their home in Haddonfield, where they lived for the next 56 years. During the early period of her marriage, Jean focused on raising her three children and spent many happy hours exchanging and debating thoughts and ideas with her kids and their friends, and dispensed wisdom which has continued to guide her children to this day.

She also donated many hours volunteering with both the Red Cross' blood bank program and CONTACT Community Helplines. Jean was devoted to a healthy lifestyle constituting vitamins, protein shakes, and exercise. She greatly enjoyed practicing Pilates and continued her Pilates sessions until weeks before her death. After raising her children, Jean attained a master's degree in educational psychology from Temple University and worked for the university as a career counselor. Subsequently, she joined the family business and served as a Special Projects Coordinator for the Human Resources Department. She regularly influenced the company's direction as a member of the Holman Enterprises Executive Committee.

In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by sons Jeff of Barrington and Steve (Georgine) of Dorset, VT; daughter Mindy (Frank Beideman) of Moorestown; two sisters, Helen Peitz of Haddonfield and Elizabeth Soderland of Mt. Laurel. She has four grandsons: Jeffrey and Brett Holman and Brad and Joe Beideman. A memorial service was held in her memory on Friday, January 29th, at the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown, 101 Bridgeboro Road.

This brief biography of her inspiring life is intended to be a fitting tribute to her remarkable persona.

Holman Infiniti Gives Back to the Community

About a year and a half ago, Holman Infiniti of Maple Shade's Service Manager Dave Zane and Parts Manager George Smith were invited to attend a luncheon for the SAMOST Jewish Family & Children's Services that is based in Cherry Hill, NJ. This organization has been providing Social Services for over 65 years in the South Jersey area. At this luncheon, Holman Infiniti was given an opportunity to help the children of this esteemed organization by providing the dealership as a work setting for developmentally challenged children. It has been a rewarding experience to say the least.

Holman Infiniti currently has four students from different schools that come into the dealership and work for 2-3 hours, once or twice a week to gain experience in the working world. The program is voluntary, but these special kids are treated as employees of Holman Infiniti of Maple Shade. They arrive with their "Job Coach", and clock in with a time card. They are given a variety of responsibilities including filing and stocking parts on shelves. The time they spend at the dealership allows them to experience a true work environment. It helps to raise their self-esteem, and gives them tools they can use in the future.

One of the Job Coaches who works with these children at Holman Infiniti is Tina Guarnerri. Tina was formally a physical therapist, but finds being a Job Coach to the children of JFCS much more satisfying. She started with the organization two years ago on a part-time basis, and is now fulltime. "All of these students have special gifts," states Tina. "I appreciate the fact that I can help find what their gift is, and to help them gain independence".

On November 20th, JFCS hosted their annual luncheon. Mindy Holman accepted an award for Holman Enterprises for the contributions made on behalf of Holman Infiniti. George Smith accepted an award on behalf of Holman Infiniti for "Outstanding dedication and support to provide work opportunities that enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities". As George received the award he said, "It is a humbling experience to know what we do with these students has the potential to stay with them for the rest of their lives."

Around 2’oclock, we began to prepare snacks for the children that would be arriving for the after school program. I was able to meet and be inspired by the Director of Kids Alley, Vivian Tan. Her compassion for these children leaves one in awe. Vivian has been recognized and awarded for her contributions to the children in Camden. She is their voice when they cannot speak for themselves."
